The Boy Illinois “Ruling Class”

The Boy Illinois, or Illi, has been carefully laying the groundwork for his promising career for years. His four part inhale series established him as a force to be reckoned with, the formidable Jean Baptiste more than delivered on the hype surrounding his name, and now with the wave of success, he has been riding since his first release and support from industry insiders and fans alike, Illi  has dropped his EP Pointe and famed DUSABLE with major reviews and co-signs from Lupe Fiasco, Wyclef Jean and Sway who are major players in the rap game.

The rapper composes and delivers lyrics with a raw unabashed eloquence that reflects his upbringing on the East Side of Chicago and the intellect that earned him admission to the prestigious University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This drive powered him to make it as a musician but also led him back to the city to pursue it full time.

His next level flow has earned him major features on BET.com, Thisis50.com, Revolt TV, Complex Magazine. XXL and even being the first rapper to perform at the NAMMY’s (Native American Music Awards). He’s been interviewed by legendary Hip Hop journalist and radio personality Sway, Hip Hop Weekly named him as one of their ‘Next to Blow’ artists and FakeShoreDrive named his upcoming project one of the most anticipated releases for 2014.

Considered one the new great artist such as Kendrick Lamar and J.Cole in the game, Illi has performed on major tours including the iStandard Producers Tour, Lupe Fiasco’s: Tetsuo & Youth Tour part 1 & 2 and Tour For The Fans. Following his most recent release, Illi also has landed major features and interviews with Hiphopdx.com, CBS Radio, Shade 45 and more.

Illi’s grind and passion for Hip Hop also earned the young rapper an ever expanding fan base along with a cosign from the veteran rap star Lupe Fiasco who declared Illi as one of the leaders of the next generation of Hip Hop. It is definitely his time.

The Boy Illinois is an avid supporter of our work at Donda’s House and actively engaged in the community. We are proud to lift him up, as he does for so many others:
